Project 'Art & Sol' Studio
Updated: 1 day ago
What is more appropriate than to design a small unit for artists to lay out their paint brushes, stack 100s of prints, and just crank that creativity all the way up to the max. A space large enough to have thoughts, but small enough to maintain. Imagine an empty box with a blank white slate, promising natural light, solar generated energy, a really cool door, and somehow fit in even the average sized backyard. You've heard of that term "the she-shack" except the Art & Sol is meant for the obvious; The Artist.
The idea stemmed from different angles. First, wanting to design a bunch of ADU mobile homes and construction plans of different sizes and styles. I've also worked in the solar industry for a while now, and the rapid growth for batteries and off-grid living is actually exciting. Then, one weekend I played all 3 Hobbit films (as if it was one film) and dwelled on the fact that round doors are not standard in America, or anywhere for that matter. Yes, they are not practical and tedious to build, but the reward in it all is to design it and somehow make it happen.
But let's put the door aside for later and think about the bones first. I'm working on some sketches so stay tuned for more updates.
To be continued.
