Hello!

My name is Carolyn Cuya, and I'm an emerging artist, on an unexpected journey across architecture, interior design, and sustainability; designing with inspiration from art.

At the beginning, I wanted to become a sustainable architect, so in 2009 I attended Delta College enrolled in preliminary CAD courses focusing on architectural design. Unfortunately, that dream dropped early on and instead pursued a different field at the Art Institute of Sacramento and received a Bachelor's of Science degree for Interior Design in 2014. Immediately after graduating, I followed my career path working at firms in the Sacramento Area designing residential spaces, retail, and hotels.

In 2016, I was given an opportunity to shift my career completely and have worked in the electrical field for 10 years designing buildings for commercial, industrial, healthcare, and in recent years commercial solar design. There's not much art to electrical and solar, but I've had opportunities to be creative configuring customed solar panel layouts designing a business name, utility scale, and a request of the American flag.

In 2026, I started painting and learned that everything doesn't have to be calculated and designed. Art gave me a sense of diversity and freedom; it also became a new reason to continue design.

My goal for this studio and collaborating design with art is to seek for ideas that evolve from the heart of architecture, the comfort of interiors, and the simplicity of green living and sustainability.
